Abstract:

The purpose of this research was to examine the effect of employee motivation on employees’ performance in the case of Pawi General Hospital. The Pawi General Hospital consisted of 690 governmental employees with finite sizes, developed by Yemane (1967) were used to determine sample size. Based on the formula the sample size was 253. The data gathered from Pawi General Hospital clearly reveals that in reward system, promotion opportunity, leadership system, employee relation and working environment the organization faced a problem of turnover employees, inequitable reward, and unfair promotion. The research has employed quantitative research approach by using descriptive and inferential statistics method. To make the sample more representative of the stratum it has employed sample size determination table and stratified method. Descriptive and inferential statistics of correlation and regression analysis were used to analyze the empirical data. Primary data were collected using five Point Likert-Scale questionnaires. SPSS 25 version was used to analyze empirical data collected through the close ended questionnaire. The mean, frequency and percentile of the dependent and independent variables were computed and interpreted. Pearson correlation Coefficient (r) was used to determine the relationship between each independent variable with the dependent variable. The correlation result indicated that there were positive relationships between reward system, promotion opportunity, leadership system, employee relation and working environment with employees’ performance, rejecting all null hypotheses. This implies that any increase or decrease on the independent variables will bring corresponding change on employees’ performance. And it is found that the total independent variables has a 50% influence on the dependent variable while the remaining 50% is influenced by factors which are not covered in this study. Hence, the Pawi General Hospital should periodically review its practice on working environment, promotion opportunity and leadership system in order to improve employees’ performance.
