Factors Affecting Employees Job Satisfaction: In The case of Assosa Zone

Abstract:

The main purpose of this study was to investigate the factors affecting employee job satisfaction in Assosa zone. This study was guided by the following research questions: what are the determinants of job satisfaction in assosa zone and what is the level of job satisfaction in assosa zone. A descriptive research design was adopted for this study. The dependent variable of the study was employee job satisfaction while the independent variables of the study were political economic; social and demographic characteristics of employee. The targeted population consisted of 8155Assosa zone employees: 381 of the employees were used as the sample size representing the total population. Simple random sampling technique was used for this study. The primary data collection tool used was administered questionnaires. The data collected in this study was analyzed using descriptive statistics through SPSS for windows to provide simple summaries in form of tables and figures. The finding of the study showed low level of job satisfaction. 53% of the participants were not satisfied with their current job. Variables such as political, economic and social factors were found to be significantly influencing job satisfaction. The conclusions made are that demographic characteristics of employees have no effect on employee job satisfaction and are therefore not determinants of employee job satisfaction. The satisfaction level of employees at assosa zone is low. The recommendations that were made are the management of the study area should pay more attention to all the job related factors in order to satisfy the employees and to decrease staff turnover.
