EFFECT OF MOTIVATION ON EMPLOYEES JOB PERFORMANCE IN THE CASE OF BENISHANGUL GUMUZ REGIONAL GOVERNMENT EDUCATION BUREAU

Abstract:

The purpose of this research was to examine the effect of motivation on employees’ job performance in the Benishangul Gumuza regional state education bureau. The research is quantitative research approach using Cross sectional survey method and the researcher have used census sampling method to select the target group of respondents. Primary data were collected using five Point Likert-Scale questionnaires, 192 responses were properly filled and returned out of 202 samples. SPSS version 25 was used to analyze empirical data collected through the close ended questionnaire. The independent variables are payment, promotion, working condition, recognition and empowerment whereas the dependent variable is employees’ job performance. Both descriptive and inferential statistics were used for the data analysis. The descriptive statistics such as frequency, percent, mean and standard deviation were used for describing the demographic characteristics of respondents and the dependent and independent variables. The result shows that motivational practices (intrinsic and extrinsic) that are conducted in the bureau is good. The inferential statistics like Pearson correlation coefficient(r) and simple linear regression were used to determine if there is relationship existed between independent and dependent variables. The findings indicated that payment, promotion, working condition, recognition and empowerment were positively correlated and statistically significant relationship with employees’ performance. The study concluded that motivation have positive effect on employees’ performance. The result of this study indicates that an increase or decrease on the independent variable will bring corresponding change on employees’ job performance.
