DETERMINANTS OF DEPOSIT MOBILIZATION: THE CASE OF DASHEN BANK ASSOSA BRANCH

Abstract:

Deposit mobilization is the process of public cash or funds accumulation by the financial institutes via its different routes, for instance, savings, current, fixed deposit accounts and other specialized schemes. This study aimed at assessing determinants of deposit mobilization in Dashen bank Assosa branch. The study employed descriptive and explanatory methods. Beside this, both quantitative and qualitative data were collected from 189 sampled populations using stratified, simple random and purposive sampling. In addition to this, data collection methods such as questionnaire and semi-structured interview were used and analyzed using SPSS version 25.0 software mainly descriptive, mean , standard deviation, correlation and multiple linear regression analysis methods pertinent to research questions and objectives of the study were utilized. Thus, the results which found via applying those methods implied that loan and advance, branch expansion, security, quality service, competition and Awareness had positive correlation and significant effect on deposit mobilization. In addition to this, the result of interview portrayed that the amount of deposit of the bank had increased from time to time. However, not all deposit mobilization had increased such as time deposit was null till now. Thus, it is vital to take an appropriate mechanism to coup-up those limitations and factors at all.
