The purpose of the study was to find out the role of saving and credit Institution on economic empowerment women in Assosa city Administration. It is widely accepted that women are central to household and national economic development. On the other hand women are also more vulnerable to poverty. Efforts try to enhance the capacity of women to earn and ensure that they get access to and control the whole family or community assets that is why women are good in saving and paying credit. Women play a predominant role in the economy and there is always a have need to bring them into the mainstream of economic activities. The empowerment of women is also the basis for transforming lives at the household level and in the wider society. In this regard, the delivery of Credit and saving Institution is one of the approaches to the empowerment of women. This study has main objective to assess the role of credit and saving Institution in the empowerment of women in Assosa City Administration. The researcher used both qualitative and quantitative methods to obtain a reliable data. Data were derived from a questionnaire, Interview and Observation. The study establishes that improved access to Credit and saving Institution in Assosa town has been able to empower women economically. Saving levels of the majority of the clients have increased after the delivery of CSI. Encouraging results have also been shown in the enhancement of the women’s of self-confidence with respect to the capability to work on their own and improve their lives. CSI also show progress in the decision making power of women and in their Economical empowerment as reflected in respect for their legal rights, ownership of household assets and holding of positions. CSI also develop gender relationships which is a basis for the overall empowerment of women. The data analysis was made from 873 population 125 sample respondents. That were from CSI clients field , petty trade 21/16.8%/ micro Bank 21 /16.8%/ Asset loan 74/59.21%/ Revolving fund 7 /5.6%/ staff loan 2/1.6%/. In general this study shows the role of CSI in the economic and social aspects of women Empowerment.
