Determinants for the delay of Public projects implementation in Assosa town: In the case of Selected Public construction projects.

Abstract:

The main objective of this study is to find out the main determinants of project implementation delay in public organizations, specifically in Assosa town. To achieve the main objective together with specific objectives, Descriptive and Causal Research type with quantitative research approach was used. To have specific answers, specific research questions were designed which are aligned with the conceptual framework developed. The target population of the study was 172 workers from Assosa Town the data was collected all population of concerned employees. The study presented the data using percentage distribution, mean and standard distribution. Normality test has been conducted using SPSS 22 to test for the normal distribution of the data. The statistical tools used to estimate the population parameters and test the constructed hypothesizes were: correlation analysis to examine the relationship of variables, Regression analysis to study the effect of impacting factors on the delay of project implementation and. The study used both descriptive and inferential statistics to analyze study results. The independent variables explained the dependent variable by 56.1%. The findings of the study revealed that poor cost management, quality control, time management, and resource allocation have significant positive relationship and contributed for the delay of projects in Assosa town; at the end of this study paper recommendation were given to the management of the town particularly.
