Enablers, Difficulties and Features to Implement E-Learning in Assosa University

Abstract:

This study investigated the possibility of implementing E-Learning in ASU by identifying the enablers, difficulties and opportunities of E-Learning in the University. Enabling factors which includes advancement of educational technologies, meeting students’ expectation, enhancing teaching-learning and others are identified. The difficulties in the University are: lack of infrastructure, lack of technological skills and strategies, student’s fear of exposure in a new environment, culture of the University and others. Also the opportunities that will be gained are: increases availability of academic resources; used as a repository of course materials for long life referencing and self-updating, and additional communication method for lecturers and students; improves quality of education and others. Most students and lecturers showed good motivation in E-Learning implementation and they assumed that it is useful for ASU. Also prototype of E-Learning System in ASU were developed and introduced for students and lecturers to show its practicality in the university.
