RECRUITMENT AND SELECTION PRACTICES IN COMMERICAL BANK OF ETHIOPIA: IN THE CASE OF NEKEMTE DISTRICT

Abstract:

This study was aimed to assess Recruitment and Selection practice in commercial bank of Ethiopia in case of Nekemte District. Descriptive research method was used. Questioners, interview and review of documents were designed based on the objectives.Stratified random sampling techinique was developed to distribute 195 questionnaires to employees of CBE where 182 questionnaires were filled and returned. Interview was made to with Nekemte District human resource manager and described and interpreted accourding the to the response get from the respondents. The completed questionnaire was processed and analyzed by using pie chart, table and textual write ups. The findings of the study illustrated the recruitment and selection practice in CBE has clear policy which is practiced by Human Resources manual and system which majority of respondents understand. Moreover, the recruitment and selection process were non discriminatory interms gender, race and politics. The major challenges during recruitment and selection practices have been seen internally and externally. Hence, the CBE should periodically review its policies and procedures, strategy in order to attract new employees and commit the existing once.
