Land is an essential input to all productions, but degradation of land has become a serious problem affecting all spheres of social, economic and political life of the population. The main objective of this study was to evaluate the role of sustainable land management practices in rehabilitating degraded land and increasing the productivity of land in Homosha Woreda. The study design employed both qualitative and quantitative (mixed) approaches. In order to achieve the objective of the study, both primary and secondary data were generated from 280 randomly selected households of 928 from four Rural Kebeles of the district based on probability proportional to size. Primary data collection methods focus group discussion, interview, observation, and questioner has been used. From secondary sources different documents have been also used. Data obtained from survey questionnaires was analyzed by using descriptive statistics. Binary logistic regression model used for the strength of relationship between independent variables such as educational status of farmers, access of training, livestock holding size, family size, age of farmers, farm land distance and dependent variables i.e. using of land management practices The result of the binary logistic regression model showed that educational status of farmers, farmers’ access of training; age and sex of farmers, livestock holding and family size have significantly influenced whether land management practices were implemented and adopted or not. The findings of the study indicated that decrease in productivity of farm land, involvement in-off farm activities, less access to extension service and inadequate attention from Woreda Agriculture and Natural Resource Development office are the major challenges encountering the adopting, implementation of land rehabilitation practices in effective way. Finally, it has been recommended that farmers need to investigate and need to be considered for land management practices to be better attained and sustained in successful way. The local knowledge of farmers has to be encouraged and supported through continuous training and strength institutional government.
